MAMA and Art Baby Gallery launch the open-call project WALLPAPER, that claims physical space for young artists who live online.

Dichtbij Mij (Close to Me) – Viola Gesmundo – – 31st May to 3rd September 2017
This year, we have invited the Italian illustrator Viola Gesmundo to put on an exhibition in our foyer. Viola Gesmundo is an architect and illustrator who has a preference for simple drawings in which black and red lines prevail. She lives and works in Rotterdam and Turin and sees the city as her canvas. For the exhibition Dichtbij Mij (Closer To Me) she was inspired by poems written by Rotterdam children, about the language they use at home.
Studio de Bakkerij is both a gallery and a theatre and it is situated in an old chocolate factory in Rotterdam North. Website Studio De Bakkerij
Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk – Keramiek en olieverf-schilderijen (ceramics and oil paintings) – May / June 2017
In the paintings and sculptures of Pepijn van Nieuwendijk, we can easily recognize a historical and art-historical background. His work features fairy tales, ancient stories, historical facts and mythology. Pepijn creates an imaginative world, full of hybrid people, animals, insects and the odd cartoon character. It is a world of Baroque beauty with dark overtones. In his work, he combines his graphic, illustrative and artistic skills to create a meticulously detailed and harmonious whole.
