Mária Ferenčuhová(Czechoslovakia, 1975)
Mária Ferenčuhová teaches history and theory of film at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She is also a film critic and specialises in documentaries. This specialisation and great interest in recording reality on film can also be found in her poetry, for example in her great attention to detail. In her most recent collection Imunita (2016), she uses medical language and elevates it to poetry. The description of symptoms and the narration of individual experiences of illness develop into a complex and multifaceted portrait of individuals, but also of society at large and of human destiny.
