Marianne Morris(Canada, 1981)
Marianne Morris was born in Canada, grew up in England and now lives in Toronto again. Morris's poetry plays on expectations. Her sentences often take a surprising turn and her language is sometimes complex or abstract, and then simple and recognisable again. Morris alternates personal topics – love, the body, relationships, (mental) health – with socio-critical (prose) poems or incorporates these topics in such poems. In 2003, she founded Bad Press, an independent publisher of essays, pamphlets and poetry.
