Micha Hamel

(Netherlands, 1970)

Micha Hamel is not only a poet but also a composer and conductor. In 2008 he toured the country with his successful operetta Snow White. Hamel’s most recent poetry collection, Bewegend doel, was nominated for this year’s VSB Poetry Prize. The title of this particular collection reflects the diverging ambitions of the poet: his target is a moving target and his focus is never on just one single project. Hamel’s poetry is also dynamic, both as regards its form and subject matter. In this way he not only invests his own moving target with form but he also seems to refer to the speed and restlessness of modern life.
