Poetry International trekt samen op met het kersverse festival Rotterdam Unlimited en versterkt de eerste editie van het festival met een niet te missen poëzieprogramma met optredens van dichters als Adonis, John Ashbery en Dichter des Vaderlands Anne Vegter. Samen dompelen Rotterdam Unlimited en Poetry International de stad Rotterdam van 11 tot en met 16 juni a.s. onder in een zee van acts op het gebied van muziek, dans, poëzie, theater en carnaval, op vele podia binnen en buiten. Poetry International stond ooit aan de wieg van het Dunya Festival dat nu op zijn beurt een van de pijlers van Rotterdam Unlimited is. Rotterdam Unlimited draagt net als Poetry International de vele bevolkingsgroepen, talen en culturen die Rotterdam herbergt een uitermate warm hart toe.

Rotterdam Unlimited
Een exclusief optreden van Manu Chao is een van de hoogtepunten van Rotterdam Unlimited. Op 15 juni staat deze levende legende met zijn band La Ventura op het podium dat speciaal voor dit stadsspektakel op de fontein van het Rotterdamse Hofplein wordt gebouwd. Ook op andere buitenpodia zijn gratis toegankelijke acts van naam te verwachten. Binnen is het feest met programma’s in De Doelen, Poetry International in de Rotterdamse Schouwburg en nog veel meer.
Zo brengt Rotterdam Unlimited op 14 juni met ‘Rotterdam Havana Connection’ een ode aan de veelomvattende en wijdvertakte muzikale erfenis van de vergeten Rotterdamse held Hubert de Blanck. Aan deze bijzondere special in De Doelen werken Trio Son Cubano en de befaamde pianist/componist Omar Sosa mee. Kijk op de website voor meer bijzondere festivalspecials.

Poetry International Festival
Voor de 44e keer komen de meest bijzondere dichters en de grootste taalvernieuwers wereldwijd naar Rotterdam voor het jaarlijkse feest van poëzie in de Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Gedichten in de wonderlijkste talen, films, muziek en masterclasses vertellen verrassende verhalen over verre culturen. Laat je vangen door de krachtige zinnen van Elke Erb, de pikante regels van Daniël Bănulescu, de performance van Michèle Métail, de nieuwe bundel van Mustafa Stitou, het nuchtere Gronings van Jan Glas, Anne Vegter, Ester Naomi Perquin en nog veel meer.

Poëziecafé met Daniël Dee
In het dagelijkse Poëziecafé in de Rotterdamse Schouwburg maakt Stadsdichter Daniël Dee je iedere festivalmiddag op luchtige toon wegwijs door de gigantische hoeveelheid acts en optredens die Rotterdam Unlimited en Poetry International op de planken brengen. Interviews, bundelpresentaties, muzikanten, sneaks en poëzievoordrachten vertellen je waar je die avond moet zijn.
