What’s going on in Dutch-language poetry? Both in the Netherlands and in Flanders, new and innovative voices are making names for themselves both with their collections and their performances. This has created a rich and flourishing poetry landscape undergoing exciting changes and offering a variety of discoveries. With all their diversity and poetic range, the debut collections nominated for the C. Buddingh’ Prize represent the very best of this dynamic.
Led by poet laureate Ester Naomi Perquin, Ingmar Heytze and the C. Buddingh' Prize-nominated debut authors Dean Bowen, Radna Fabias, Elisabeth Tonnard and Arno Van Vlierberghe, the Inner State of Dutch Poetry illustrates the vitality of today's poetry. Janita Monna, Trouw's poetry editor, will chart the landscape in her keynote speech, and the exciting denouement of the C. Buddingh' Prize will reveal the delights Dutch-language poetry has in store for us in the near future.
