Sonia Bueno

(Spain, 1976)

Bueno takes the reader on a journey through a wasteland full of delusions and illusions.

Sonia Bueno's poetry is profoundly fragmentary in nature, her often visual poems splitting themselves and coming back together, sometimes in the shape of a knot or a drop of water. Some are even just one line long. Bueno, who is also a philosopher, does not merely explore the limits of words, but geographic boundaries too. Her collection Aral (2016) depicts the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, where the Aral Sea is slowly drying up and turning into a desert, and Bueno takes the reader on a journey through a wasteland full of delusions and illusions.
