CREPUSCULAR LANDSCAPES FOR THE NOBLE WIFE OF THE VICEROY, WHO BESIDES READING FRANÇOIS VILLON IN THE MORNINGS AND FRANÇOIS RABELAIS IN THE AFTERNOONS, GAVE BROAD BEANS AND CHICKPEAS TO THE POOR INDIANS THAT AT THAT TIME PASSED THE NIGHT IN THE SEATS OF TH

For you, lady, this crepuscule,
this spot that stains birds, serfs
and squires on the sky.
For you, lady, this flaming bubble
this schism of the west wind that night
delivers to the West.
For you, lady, this poured crapulence
licked by the horizon,
this crackling of fire between the seas,
this juice that the breeze in golden
wind on starboard allots.
For you, lady, this gush of stars
burnt by love, this copulation of stars
that rises like human heat between the peaks.
